I decided to go for a quality product with lid and am very pleased that I did. I used it for the first time yesterday and my marmalade making went like a breeze - very different from last year. The pan is deep, so there was no overboiling, the quantity scale on the inside was a boon when it came to calculating how much sugar to add, and the lid helped to stop the kitchen steaming up when I did my initial boil. I still think it's a bit on the steep side in terms of price, but I decided to operate on the principle of 'buy it once' and hope to be using it for many years to come.
