Spicy Beef Burger


Makes: 6 medium sized burgers


350g of good quality beef

1 medium egg

1 large white onion

1 large glove garlic grated

1/2 red pepper finely diced

1 handful of basil leaves, chopped (or your favourite herb, parsley & rosemary works well too)

1 red chilli finely diced

1 slice of bread - grated/shred into crumbs

Salt and pepper

Your favorite burger bread & salad



250g/9oz fresh tomatoes, finely chopped

small onion, finely choppe

3 mild chillies, finely chopped

Bunch coriander, finely chopped

Salt and pepper


Plain Greek yogurt





Preparation Method


Slice the onion in a frying pan until it is nicely caramelised and let it cool down. 


Once you have mince the beef, add  the breadcrumbs, red pepper, onion finely sliced, garlic, herbs and chilli as well as the seasoning and mix until well combined in a large bowl or food processor then add the beaten egg and mix further.  


Take a small handful of the mixture and shape it to the thickness of your choice and place on tray. Cover them with clean film to chill in the fridge for a good half an hour before cooking on the bbq. 


To make the salsa, combine all the ingredients together in a bowl and serve immediately.


Place on the hot BBQ or griddle and cook the burger as you like it (Rare, Medium Rare, etc...) and serve it with the salsa and your favourite burger bread & salad.


Tip: When building your burger, add a small spoon of cold Greek yogurt to cool down the chillies, it is delicious! Of course, if you don't like spicy food that same recipe it perfect without if made without the chillies.
