Air Fryer Fish and Chips

You don’t need a deep fryer to enjoy this British seaside dish. Place breaded cod fillets in the air fryer and serve with chips for a seaside treat.

Enjoy homemade fish and chips without the need for deep frying. Not only is air frying healthier, but it’s quicker too. Our air fryer fish and chips is easy to prepare and cook, making it a simple yet delicious dinner for the whole family. Serve with chips and tartar sauce for a true seaside-inspired treat.

The following recipe covers how to cook air fryer fish. For air fryer chips, find our recipe here. Although, oven chips work just fine.

Cook time: 10 minutes

Serves: 4      

Ingredients

60g all purpose flour

2 tsp paprika

½ tsp garlic powder

¼ tsp black pepper

½ tsp salt

1 large egg, beaten

60g panko breadcrumbs

450g cod fillets, cut into strips

Cooking oil spray

Lemon wedges, for serving

Tartar sauce, for serving

Method

1. Mix the flour with garlic powder, paprika, salt and black pepper in a small mixing bowl. Add the beaten egg in another bowl and the panko breadcrumbs in a third.

2. Pat the cod fillets dry using a paper towel before dredging the fish in the flour mixture, then the egg, and finally the breadcrumbs. Press down lightly to ensure the crumbs stick before spraying both sides of the coated fillets with oil.

3. Air fry at 200C for 10 minutes, turning the cod fillets halfway through until crispy and lightly golden.

4. Check for desired doneness with a fork to see if it flakes off easily.

5. Serve immediately with chips, tartar sauce and a wedge of lemon.
