Festive table ideas for Christmas

Make your Christmas meal extra special with a showstopping table setting that’s sure to impress friends and family. Our festive table ideas can be used from Christmas Eve through to New Year’s Eve.

Merry and bright

Serve up Christmas nostalgia with a table-setting that’s full of bold, festive character. Consider a vibrant foundation that pops: red or green tablecloths set the theme wonderfully.

Go big and layer red placemats on a red tablecloth, or if you want to mix and match, green on red works just as well, but make sure to break up bold colours by incorporating crisp white accents. We love adding our festive cloth napkins featuring colourful edging and playful Christmas slogans, which pair beautifully with a white or cream dinner set.

For final touches, we’ve incorporated big and bright festive foliage, twinkling lights and baubles for a kitsch bit of fun.

Cosy, rustic charm

Lean into the warmth of a cosy tablescape that a rustic and somewhat minimalistic approach can offer. Start with a neutral tablecloth for a wintery base, then layer with a darker coloured dinner set to bring depth. We love placing cutlery on top of neutral napkins, adding a sprig of festive foliage and bringing it together with natural jute twine, tied with a bow. For some added texture, using velvet ribbons can also work.

Keep the table interesting with candles at differing heights, elegant wine glasses and a small smattering of fairy lights.

Little extras

The extra, little details can elevate a table-setting. While festive foliage is a great start, we also love adding velvet ribbons to glass stems and a table runner on top of a tablecloth can add texture and an extra pop of colour. Taking the time to create handmade menus and placing them beside each place setting can also bring extra fun to the table.
