Dirty martini

Take the classic martini and mix it up, adding olive brine and a garnish of olives to make it dirty. Our dirty martini recipe is easy yet elegant, making it ideal for festive gatherings.

The dirty martini is salty with a hint of umami, making it a unique drink with an acquired yet delicious taste. This cocktail is perfect for those with a more savoury palette.

What you'll need...

  • 25ml green olive brine
  • 150ml gin (or vodka)
  • 25ml dry vermouth
  • Ice
  • 6 green olives, to garnish on a cocktail stick

Method

  1. Place 2 martini glasses in the fridge to chill. Take 3 green olives (pitted) and push them onto cocktail sticks. Set aside until later.  

  2. Add ice to a glass jug and pour in the gin (or vodka), vermouth and green olive brine. Stir to gently dilute the drink while it becomes chilled by the ice. If you prefer your martini shaken not stirred, then add the ice and liquids into a cocktail shaker then shake.  

  3. Remove the glasses from the fridge. Take a cocktail strainer and strain the martini mixture into the chilled glasses. Garnish with the skewered olives.
