How to get the most from your cast iron
Stylish, hard wearing and a joy to cook with, our superior quality cast iron range has been designed and built to last a lifetime.
To achieve the best cooking results and to get the most out of your ProCook cast iron, follow our guidelines for care:
Before First Use
Remove all the packaging.
Wash your cast iron in hot, soapy water and dry thoroughly.
Our cast iron casseroles are coated inside and out with toughened enamel and as a result there is no need for pre-seasoning.
Instead, we simply recommend lightly oiling the rim of both the casserole and the lid with any cooking oil prior to first use to seal and protect the raw edge.
Your cast iron is now ready to be used. Oil at regular intervals to maintain.
Cooking with Cast Iron
A true workhorse in the kitchen, our cast iron casseroles are suitable for all hobs including induction and solid fuel and are oven safe to 260°C.
Our cast iron retains and distributes heat evenly for fantastic, energy-efficient cooking results. We therefore recommend you use a medium to low heat setting to maintain ideal temperatures and prevent food from sticking.
Avoid placing on a heat source that is larger than the base of the pan to prevent overheating.
To protect the enamel surface, we recommend using ProCook silicone, nylon or wooden utensils.
Please take care when moving cast iron during cooking as they get very hot and are very heavy. Always use an oven glove or silicone handle cover.
Cleaning and Care
Always leave your cast iron to cool down before cleaning.
Do not fill or plunge your cast iron into cold water, as this may result in thermal shock.
To keep your casserole in peak condition we recommend you it wash by hand. If you do put it in the dishwasher this may result in the dulling of the enamel over time but will not affect the performance of your cast iron. If using a dishwasher, ensure the exposed iron edge is treated regularly with oil to prevent corrosion. If rust spots do develop these can be gently sanded away with wet & dry paper and the edge retreated with oil.
To remove any stubborn dirt, soak your cast iron in warm, soapy water up to the maximum capacity line until all food residues can be easily removed.
Once you have cleaned your cast iron take care to dry it thoroughly.
