Prior to this, I had never bought a pressure cooker. I'd been using my mother's from the 1970s. WHAT A DIFFERENCE. Times certainly have changed. From how easy it is to open (no more wrestling with a full pan in a sink) to the ability to select the pressure you want to cook at, I will never not be impressed with it's functionality in such a compact space. Comes with a basket, tongs to lift the basket, and a separator. Sure, it's a little on the pricier side for a pressure cooker, but in this day and age with bills being what they are, you make that back very quickly just by using it to cook meals.

Care Instructions

User guide and care instructions

The ProCook Professional Stainless Steel Pressure Cooker allows you to create delicious, healthy meals in a fraction of the usual cooking time. This ingenious cooking method, which has seen a revival in recent times uses pressurised steam to cook foods, locking in important nutrients and flavours.

To ensure proper operation and to maintain the lifespan of your pressure cooker, please read this manual carefully.

Before first use

Please remove all packaging and stickers before first use.

Check the safety valve, pressure regulator and sealing ring are functional and clean before each use.

Pay particular attention to the safety valve on the underside of the lid. The pin should be checked to ensure it can be moved freely each time you use the pressure cooker.

Be aware for any quantity of food being used, the minimum amount of liquid should be approximately 250ml.

The total minimum filling level (food and liquid) of the pressure cooker is at least 1/3 full. Observe filling quantity scale inside the pressure cooker.

DO NOT fill the pressure cooker more than 2/3 full. For food which may swell, expand or produce foam do not fill the pressure cooker more than half full.

Using your pressure cooker

Opening - Press the unlock button on the handle, the lid will open audibly, lift to remove.

Closing - Replace the lid on the pressure cooker. Ensure the sides of the lid are in the open position. Press the lock button, the sides will audibly close.

Adding liquid and food

Observe the minimum liquid quantity of 250ml and the minimum total quantity (food and liquid) of 1/3 of the pressure cookers capacity.

For food which may swell or expand during cooking, such as dehydrated vegetables or rice, ensure the pressure cooker is only half full.

With all other foods the pressure cooker can be filled to a maximum level of 2/3 full.

Add your chosen liquid and food to the pressure cooker.

Note - if adding salt, only add to already boiling water to avoid the base of the pressure cooker corroding

The pressure lid can now be placed on the pressure cooker.

Setting the pressure regulator level (kPa, a kilopascal, a unit of pressure)

90 kPa - Fast cooking approx. 120°C for cooking and braising foods such as meat and stews

60 kPa - Gradual cooking approx. 113°C for steaming delicate foods such as fish or vegetables

To start

Set the hob to the highest setting

As pressure increases, the safety valve becomes visible and the pressure cooker can no longer be opened.

Pressure cooking begins once a steady flow of steam continually escapes from the pressure regulator, then reduce the hob to its lowest setting. The cooking time has now started.

Cooking time complete

Switch off your hob.

Release steam

Wait until the safety valve is no longer visible.

Do not turn from 90 kPa to pressure release straight away. Change pressure regulator from 90 kpa to 60 kPa, wait a few seconds and then change to position pressure release

When cooking under pressure 60 kPa, simply turn directly from pressure 60 kPa to pressure release position.

Once all the steam has been released, the lid may be opened and removed.

You must never force the lid open

CAUTION: Escaping steam is extremely hot.

The pressure cooker must be allowed to cool completely before cleaning.

All parts of the pressure cooker are dishwasher safe, excluding the pressure lid.

Cleaning the pressure cooker lid

The pressure lid MUST be hand washed after each use under hot running water. DO NOT immerse the pressure cooker lid in water. It must be wiped clean with a damp cloth. DO NOT use any abrasive, alkaline or chlorinated detergents or steel wool.

Cleaning and replacing the sealing ring

The sealing ring should be rinsed under running water and dried after each use. Please note the sealing ring is subject to wear and may need replacing every 1-2 years. Only use sealing rings supplied by us.

Cleaning the pressure regulator

First, set the pressure regulator to the [Icon] position and remove. Clean under running water and then re-insert. Clean the bottom part of the pressure regulator from the inside of the lid with a damp cloth.

ALWAYS use extreme caution. Only use the pressure cooker for its intended purposes. Improper use can result in injury.

The pressure cooker should not be used by children or those with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities. No one should attempt to use it without reading and understanding the instructions.

Your pressure cooker is not a toy. KEEP OUT of reach of children.

NEVER leave the pressure cooker unattended while under pressure.

ALWAYS use this pressure cooker only for the purpose of indoor domestic fast cooking, for which it was designed.

Before each use you must ALWAYS check the function and cleanliness of the safety valve, the pressure regulation valve, as well as the sealing ring.

Ensure these instructions are kept for reference.

Pressure will build during the cooking process. It is therefore important to ensure the lid is tightly closed before using the cooker and to carefully read these instructions. Incorrect use may result in personal injury or damage to the cooker.

The pressure cooker does not feature a pressure indicator. You must observe the steam emission from the pressure regulation valve- this indicates successful pressure build-up inside the cooker.

DO NOT fill the pressure cooker below the specified minimum fill capacity, including liquid and cooked food. Food should NEVER be dry-cooked.

DO NOT exceed the specified maximum fill capacity, including liquid and cooked food.

NEVER use the pressure cooker without adding liquid, this causes serious damage.

Only use the pressure cooker on heat sources specified in the user guide and care instructions. To ensure optimum efficiency always match the size of the cooker pressure with the size of the heat source. If using a gas hob do not allow a gas flame to extend up the sides of the pan.

DO NOT cover the pressure cooker during use as this may result in injury or fire risk.

When under pressure the pressure cooker must NEVER be used for roasting or frying using oil.

NEVER use the pressure cooker in an oven, microwave or under the grill.

ALWAYS handle the hot pressure cooker by its handles. Care must be taken when moving the pressure cooker.

NEVER force open the pressure cooker. Pressure must be completely released before opening the pressure cooker. When releasing the steam, ensure hands, head and body are out of reach of the steam.

DO NOT place the pressure cooker on delicate surfaces.

If cooking meat with skin, DO NOT prick the meat while the skin is swollen under the effect of the pressure, you may be scalded.

If cooking doughy food, gently shake the cooker before opening the lid.

DO NOT put the pressure cooker lid in the dishwasher.

Only use original spare parts.

NEVER use a deformed or damaged pressure cooker or pressure cooker accessories.

If repairs are necessary, please contact our customer services department.

Any stains on the bottom of the pressure cooker can be easily removed using lemon juice or vinegar.

DO NOT use scouring agents or wire wool when cleaning the pressure cooker.

The pressure cooker MUST NOT be used for deep-frying with oil, fat or grease.

DO NOT leave oil or grease unattended as they can catch fire. Never use water to extinguish a grease fire. Cover with lid or other cover or use an appropriate fire extinguisher.
