Nutella mug cake

Gooey and full of indulgent goodness, our Nutella mug cake recipe makes for a delicious treat during the colder months.

Tuck into our super simple yet delicious Nutella mug cake recipe. When you’re in the mood for a decadent dessert, our mug cake is easy to make and only requires a few basic ingredients typically found in your pantry. Rich and gooey, this chocolate mug cake is perfect for evening indulgence or a midnight snack.

What you'll need...

  • 4 tbsp flour
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • 5 tbsp milk, use plant-based milk to make it vegan
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • ¼ tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp Nutella, or any hazelnut chocolate spread will do
  • Pinch of salt
  • Powdered sugar, to top

Method

  1. Mix the dry ingredients in your chosen mug. 

  2. Add the wet ingredients and combine well, ensuring that everything is mixed properly.

  3. Dollop the Nutella or hazelnut chocolate spread on top of the batter. 

  1. Place the mug in the microwave and cook for 1 minute 20 seconds. You want it to remain gooey in the middle.

  2. Remove and top with another dollop of Nutella and powdered sugar for extra decadence!

  3. Enjoy warm! You could even serve with a small scoop of vanilla ice cream.
